Martyn Meade has been involved in horses all his life, not only in racing but as a keen polo player and Master of Foxhound.  Meade trained his first National Hunt winner under rules back in 1972. Since then he has trained numerous winners under both rules whilst continuing a commercial career. Having concentrated on flat racing since the late 1980s he has had multiple stakes winners and boasts a very impressive strike rate with two-year-olds, most notably the six-time winner Lunar Mist.

The move to Sefton Lodge marked the beginning of a new era with a commitment to producing top-class winners, while nearby Egerton House Stables acting as a re-training yard and turnout.  Meade is also at the forefront of Ladyswood Stud based in Wiltshire, which is the perfect environment for prepping for sales, boarding, resting and breaking young horses.

Martyn Meade has made an exhilarating start to his training career particularly amongst the juvenile ranks. On 10 May 2015 Meade came within a few yards of securing the biggest success of his career as Irish Rookie finished a close-up second to in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (Group 1) behind favourite Erveyda, only a week after her very admirable run in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket where she finished sixth.

As well as Irish Rookie, Navigate and Kurland are among a number of horses which look to be very exciting for the team in the season ahead.
